Who we are

The New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC) aims to discover, develop, and make available practical, cost-effective technologies and practices for our farmers to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. 

We are a core component of the new Centre for Climate Action on Agricultural Emissions and are a key part of the Government’s approach to understanding and managing greenhouse gases from agriculture.

To achieve our goal, we invest in and coordinate research that is undertaken collaboratively and responds to Aotearoa | New Zealand’s unique farm systems and environments.

Due to expanding investment from the New Zealand Government, $339m has been committed over the next four years through Budget 2022 from the Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to progress the actions in the Agriculture Chapter of the Aotearoa І New Zealand’s Emissions Reduction Plan.
